PASTOR DAVE'S MI-5

1. What book do you most want to read before years end?

I picked up a book of four Christian novellas. I guess it would be good to finish that before the Christmas season ends. I think the book was called "A Bride for Christmas". I've read the first one, and it was really good.

2. What's the most humanly impossible thing you would like to see happen soon?

Well, I certainly think this is humanly impossible, but I also think it won't happen anytime soon: I'd like to be able to do that whole Star Trek "Beam Me Up Scotty" thing. I don't remember what it's called. Teleporting? I'd love to be able to just think about Virginia and be there, instead of driving 14 hours. And, sometimes when I'm feeling really selfish, the drive from home into town just seems to take an eternity. I'd love to snap my fingers and be at Wal-Mart or the grocery store.

3. What's the most important trip you want to take yet this year?

My trips to Virginia are always important! And, as Dwane's grandmother gets older, it becomes more important to try to get there every year.

4. What habit would you most like to establish in 2009?

The habit of eating less.

5. What single thing that you plan to do this year will matter most in ten years?

I think that my answer to #4 goes along with this one. My exercise habit is quite firmly established now (45-60 minutes, at least 6 days a week). However, I haven't really lost any weight since September/October, so I've really got to get on the ball with the healthier eating. I've really trying to find the balance of exercise/calorie intake, and that experimenting has really wreaked havoc on the whole weight loss thing. I found that when I was doing really rigorous exercise for an hour a day, and eating only 1400 calories, I wasn't losing at all. However, when I upped my calorie count a little, I seemed to lose more. Trying to find the right ratio of calories/exercise is proving to be difficult.

BILLY RHYTHM'S WATCHING MOVIES MI-5

Billy Rhythm says: "This Five is not so much concerned with what kind of movies you like, but how you watch them!"

1) When you're at the theater, how do you want your atmosphere? Do you prefer old theaters or megaplexes? Full houses or intimate seatings? Lots of kids, or none at all?

I don't really care if the theater is old or new, as long as the seats are comfy and there is ample leg room. I prefer less of a crowd. If it's a kids' movie, I like lots of kids, because it makes me giggle when they laugh (like when an animal burps or something). For a non-kids' movie, I'd prefer no kids.

2) What's your "home theater" like? High tech? VCR and TV? What?

I think it's sort-of high tech. That's Dwane's department, and I honestly have no idea. I know we have this ginormous TV, which takes up tons of my living room. I prefer to just pop in a movie and lay in bed to watch it on the smaller bedroom TV.

3) We've probably all got DVD and VCR players, but how about alternative movie watching gadgets? Have you got an Apple TV? Ever watch a movie over the Internet?

We can watch a movie on the PS3 (including blue-ray, I think), and we also have a DVD player that will up-grade a regular DVD to a blue-ray. I've never watched a movie over the internet, but I have watched TV shows (like Heroes). Oh, yeah, we have a PSP, too, and you can buy these little discs of movies to watch on that.

4) Do you belong to a subscription movie rental service, like NetFlix? If so, how many movies are you renting a month? Are you happy with the service?

We used to subscribe to NetFlix. We watch tons of movies at first, but then it kind of "grew old". The service was fine. Now we use RedBox, and we love that. We probably rent 4 movies a month.

5) Share with us your ratio of buying movies to renting them. Do you rent more, or just outright buy your movies? Do you get DVDs, tapes, or movie downloads for your computer most frequently?

We do buy a lot of movies, which is a major contributor to all of our "junk". I don't buy a movie for myself unless it's one of those $4.88 jobs. Dwane buys movies as soon as they come out. We buy just DVDs now, and I've never downloaded a movie from the computer. We'll buy a little disc for the PSP if we find it on clearance.

AMY'S MI-5

1. Bath or Shower?

Shower. With shower gel from Bath & Body Works. (Flowering Herbs is my favorite, which is hard to find in the store--usually have to get it online.) I also like a fine mist spray. Something else to know about my shower---I can't stand to have water in my face.

2. If you are a beer drinker- what is your favorite? Is it a seasonal thing? If you aren’t a beer drinker what is your favorite beverage and does it change with the season?

I don't drink beer. At all. I had a couple of sips of Coors Light once. But that's it. Right now, my favorite beverage is Crystal Light. It doesn't change through the season, but it changes during the day. In the morning, when I'm exercising, I like the orange, and then I drink Lemon Ice Tea or Peach Ice Tea the rest of the day. Another favorite beverage is Diet Cherry Pepsi.

3. Now that the election is over what is one thing you are looking forward to as “life resumes”?

I'm looking forward to not hearing all of those stories about the candidates' "skeletons in the closet". And, if I'm honest, since the new president is a democrat, I'm (selfishly) kind of interested to see "what's in it for me?" I'm not a huge follower of politics, but I think the democrats tend to want to do more for the people. I'm anxious to see if I'm going to get free health coverage...or another stimulus check...or maybe just higher taxes so that all of the people who don't work get more benefits. Ok. Guess I'm bitter about the abuse of some governmental programs.

4. If you were a board game what game would you be?

Oh goodness. I don't know!! Maybe the game of "Life".

5. Do you like barbecue sauce? Do you have a favorite brand? A favorite barbecue dish?

I like a little BBQ sauce. I like those Rodeo Burgers at Burger King, but I sometimes take off some of the sauce. I tend to like "Open Pit" barbeque sauce (which I recall my brother saying is quite sad). I prefer Catalina dressing on chicken, mesquite on pork, and terriyaki on beef. I also like my grandmother's BBQ Hot Dogs (as does Mrs. Cheeseball).

THIS WEEK'S WEIGH IN

Gained This Week - .8 pound
Total Lost to Date - 28.4 pounds

I use the Wii Fit everyday, so I get weighed everyday. Once, I gained 3.3 pounds overnight! I blamed it on the hot dogs I ate the night before, and lost it later in the week. I have an excuse for my weight gain this week, but it's really TMI, and really, there is never any "excuse".
