Dwane bought another car last week. Some $650 Subaru. It may be an Impreza. I'm not sure. It had a small oil leak and a small exhaust leak, but it took him all of 15 minutes to fix both. We took it to Bangor on Saturday, and it went really well. I was shocked! It kindda looks like a station wagon with a smashed-in wagon.
We ate lunch at Smokey Bones in Bangor. I was really impressed! I had looked at the menu on-line, and wasn't really looking forward to it, but it was really good! Dwane had the Pulled Pork Lunch Special, which included garlic bread and two sides (he had green beans and French fries). I had the Crunchy Chicken Strip Lunch Special, which also included two sides (I had double mashed potato) and garlic bread. We shared our main course so that we could try both. Both the chicken and the pork were good, but I was really impressed with the pork. I had expected that the pork would be dripping with barbeque sauce (which is not a favorite of mine), but in actuality, there was just a hint of it. Instead, the restaurant serves two types of barbeque sauce on the table, so you can douse it with what you want. Eben had mac & cheese and french fries, and Caleb had grilled cheese and fries. Dwane & I just drank water, but the total bill (without tip) was only $3 more than McDonald's! I'd definitely go there again. I've heard it rumored that Smokey Bones may move into our Denny's, and that would be really cool.
I think Dwane and I have finally got my "big old honking diamond ring" situated the way we want it. It is a three-stone anniversary ring, with a 2/3 carat champagne diamond and the middle, and two 1/3 carat champagne diamonds on the sides. I really, really love the champagne diamonds. It was really, really, really hard to find them. You can't just go into a jewelry store and see them. We ended up taking a chance on Ebay for the smaller diamonds, and then we bought the larger diamond from Jewelry Television.com. I'm pleased with the results.
I'm officially working again. I'm working about 8 hours from home. I'm doing quite a variety of work: divorces, leases, real estate, wills, and even a little Social Security stuff! I had forgotten how much I really loved divorce work. The procedure has changed a little, which I'm still getting used to, but the "meat" of the stuff is still pretty much the same.
Eben's Pinewood Derby is on Saturday at 2:00 at the Town Office in St. George. While his car is pretty much done, it still needs to have the wheels and decals added. The practice is this Friday night, so he better get cracking!
